JOB TITLE: Caregiver

Exemption Status: Non-exempt


Job Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate, reliable, and attentive caregiver to provide exceptional care and support to residents within our assisted living community. The primary goal is to enhance the residents' quality of life by assisting with daily activities, promoting
independence, and fostering a safe, supportive, and engaging environment.


Key Responsibilities:
Personal Care: Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, oral care, and toileting, while respecting their dignity and privacy.


Direct Resident Support: Implement Individual Service Plans (ISPs)


Mobility Assistance: Provide support with walking, transfers (in and out of beds, chairs, or wheelchairs), and range-of-motion exercises to maintain or improve mobility.


Medication Management: Supervise or assist with medication administration, ensure medications are taken as prescribed, and monitor for potential side effects.


Health Monitoring & Reporting: Observe and document changes in residents' physical, emotional, or cognitive conditions and report concerns promptly to the nursing supervisor or medical staff.


Meal Preparation & Dining Assistance: Prepare or serve nutritious meals following dietary plans and assist residents with eating if needed.


Light Housekeeping & Laundry: Perform light housekeeping tasks, such as vacuuming, emptying trash, changing linens, and doing laundry to maintain a clean and safe living space.


Companionship & Social Engagement: Provide emotional support, engage residents in conversation, hobbies, and social activities, and accompany them to on-site or off-site events and appointments.


Safety & Emergency Response: Ensure a safe environment, identify and address safety hazards, and act quickly and responsibly in emergency situations.

Qualifications & Skills:


Required:

o High school diploma or GED equivalent.


o Ability to pass a background check and health screening (e.g., negative TB test).


o Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient and empathetic demeanor.


o Physical stamina and strength to perform the physical demands of the job, including lifting and assisting with transfers (balance, crouch, bend, stoop, walk, kneel, twist, stand and sit). Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Ability to push and pull up to 150 pounds.


o Ability to read, write, and understand English effectively.


o Must be at least 18 years of age


o Must be willing to complete the training under DHS 83


o Be free of communicable diseases.


Preferred:

o Prior experience in caregiving, home health aide, or related healthcare role.


o Current CPR and First Aid certifications.


o Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification or other relevant credentials.


o Specialized training in dementia care or other specific health conditions.
